Department mission is a knowledge transfer to undergraduated, graduated and postgraduated students, as well as scientific and professional researching in field of process engineering. Department is promote process engineering in biotechnology, food technology and chemical technology, too.  

The higher education introduce students with knowledge from engineering thermodynamics; heat and mass transfer; unite operations; reaction engineering; numerical methods; bioprocess engineering; modelling, optimisation and automatization; ecological engineering; engineering of organic and inorganic materials; equipment and process design, and related disciplines.

Scientific and professional researches are coverage the same areas as well as the education work. The current research fields are drying, extraction, heat and mass transfer, thermal properties of materials, improvement of safety in producing and processing of cereals, as well as non-destructive analysis methods in processes of food production and storage.
